Roles and Responsibility
  • The Business Intelligence (BI) Developer is responsible for developing the BI/Report portal strategy for the Data Warehouse/Business Intelligence (DW/BI) initiative within the OAS Consulting department
  • Responsibility for report development according to the documented requirements provided by the Business Analyst
  • The primary responsibility of the BI Developer is to translate the business requirements into comprehensive report development and report portal design
  • This includes participating in interviews with selected business users and understanding how their business needs translate into dashboards, scorecards, and reports
  • The BI Developer will design and develop the report portal, including setting up necessary security and scheduling capabilities
  • The Developer should have a strong proficiency in development in various BI tools, most preferably SSRS, Tableau, and/or Excel Power BI/PowerPivot
  • They should also show a solid understanding of dimensional data modeling and writing SQL scripts and Stored Procedures where necessary
  • The BI Developer will participate and provide input for Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) strategies in partnership with the Data Architect and ETL Developer
  • They should have a solid understanding and provide input into the grain of data in fact tables, and identifying metrics and dimensions
  • The ideal candidate will have strong development skills while also being able to interact with the business users during development and testing/sign-off phases
  • The BI Developer should work very well with the DW/BI team as well as the business throughout the lifecycle of the project

 

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Proficient in developing reports in SSRS, Tableau, and/or Excel PowerBI/PowerPivot
  • Proficient mastery of SQL
  • Experience in BI Portal design, security and scheduling
  • Strong familiarity with Kimball Methodology and Dimensional Data Modeling
  • Strong in both business understanding and technical understanding
  • 3-5 years as report developer for business intelligence/data warehouse projects using Kimball Methodology
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access
  • Experience with SQL Server BI tools a plus
