Roles and Responsibility

Job Summary:

This role is for an experienced VMware Packaging Engineer position who will package and deploy desktop applications in an enterprise (non-customer) Virtual Desktop Infrastructure environment. The candidate will be part of the Engineering Team and be responsible for package and delivering applications to a VMware Horizon virtual desktop infrastructure environment using VMware ThinApp, App Volumes (CLOUD VOLUME) User Environment Manager (UEM) and other tools.

 

Primary Skills:

·         ThinApp, App Volume or UEM

·         Admin Studio and packaging techniques

·         System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) 2012

·         Creating Task Sequences in SCCM 2012

·         Running SCCM 2012 deployment reports

·         SCCM 2012 Operating System Deployment (nice to have)

·         Troubleshooting application deployment errors

·         Working knowledge of Windows 7 (must have) and Windows 10 (nice to have)

·         Working knowledge of Visual Basic Scripting (must have) and PowerShell (nice to have)

 

Secondary Skills:

·         Willingness and ability to produce high quality operational documentation, including detailed instructions for packaging and deploying an application in SCCM 2012

·         Willingness to learn new technologies required for accomplishing project goals

·         Strong customer service skills with high level of professionalism and ability to work with complex situations

·         Ability to work efficiently and productively without direction or guidance

·         Capable of exercising extreme discretion and independent judgment

·         Ability to handle extremely confidential information in a professional manner

·         Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

 

Key Responsibilities:

·         Package VMware applications using VMware ThinApp, App Volumes (CLOUD VOLUME) User Environment Manager (UEM) and other tools

·         Create collections in System Center Configuration Manager for application deployments

·         Create queries in Systems Center Configuration Manager

·         Run deployment reports in System Center Configuration Manager

·         Develop VBScript and PowerShell scripts as needed for application packages

·         Document each package following an existing documentation standard

·         Provide technical documentation to project and Operations teams as part of project deliverables
