Roles and Responsibility
Job Description:
Responsible for leading API development (programming) and implementation in the company’s SOA portfolio, participating in all phases of the development and maintenance life cycle, typically for an assigned business unit or corporate department. Great opportunity for candidate experienced in Java, J2EE, Microservices, Docker, APIGEE, Swagger and OAuth.
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Maintains active relationships with customers to determine business requirements, leads requirements gathering meetings and reviews designs with the business.
- Develops and defines application scope and objectives and supervises the preparation of technical and/or functional specifications from with programs will be written.
- Lead multiple offshore teams and provide technical mentorship.
- Performs Technical Design and Implementation of the Solutions.
- Performs technical design reviews and code reviews.
- Ensures unit test is completed and meets the test plan requirements, system testing is completed and system is implemented according to plan into production and support during the warranty period.
- Mentors others and may lead multiple or small to medium sized projects.
- Facilitates group sessions to elicit complex information on requirements.
- Clarification, design sessions, code reviews and troubleshooting issues.
- Leads efforts with Web and marketing team to increase the presence of web products.
- Owns the change request process and coordinates with other teams as necessary.
- Develops and owns list of final enhancements.
- Responsible for delivery of application technology solutions and data information planning effort. Coordinates and manages on-call support and owns the system monitoring process.
- Owns the technical development environment and works on the Enterprise team.
- Leads small teams.
Skills
- Requires BA/BS degree in related field or technical institute training.
- 7+ or more years related experience in J2EE, (2 yrs APIGEE, Docker, Microservices); multi-platform experience; expert level experience with business and technical applications. Or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
- Must have experience working in onsite/offshore model and delivery
- Incumbent should also have the ability to mentor others, lead multiple small projects and provide troubleshooting support.
- Define API platform architecture with knowledge of vendors and capabilities in API space.
- Understanding and strong hands on experience in REST/JSON API design/development, implementation of APIGEE best practices
- Working knowledge with Swagger
- Understanding & familiarity of the Web Services Standards (WS-Specs), REST & SOAP Standards
- Hands on experience documenting and publishing API documents on API developer portal
- Knowledge of IBM Data Power Appliances (XG45’s, Xi52’s for development of IT Solutions.
- WebSphere Transformation Extender knowledge to implement Transformation Solutions.
- Understanding and working knowledge of Http & MQ Protocols, Cobol Copybook, XML, WSDL specifications.
- Hands on experience in Security Implementations to the Business Solutions involving OAuth 2.0, WS-Security Username Token and X509 certificate based authentication and Authorization.
- Well versed with one or more of the following tools, XML Spy, Rational Clear Case & SOAPUI tools.
