Roles and Responsibility

Responsible for advising our customers on the design, build, and implementation of high-performance, highly available, Splunk searches, reports, and dashboards

Develop dashboards, reports, and queries that meets established company standards and baselines

Participate in all functional software and performance test activities

Provide timely updates and communication to reporting manager and project management that pertain to assigned project and operational tasks, including communication regarding adverse or abnormal conditions

Create and document all actions, practices, procedures and processes pertaining to deployed systems and environments that is comprehensible across a variety of audiences of varying technical skill

Confer with management, aid in defining the bounds and aims of system implementations, and provide management with status and progress reports

Participate in the exchange of ideas and information within the department

Organize verbal and written ideas clearly and use an appropriate business style

Identify creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and systems (i.e. modification of responsibilities or consolidation of tasks, elimination of non-value added processes, or complete re-engineering of processes and systems)

Assure that procedures and work instructions are efficient and not redundant

Offer new ideas and suggestions for improvement, identify and implement new practices and processes that are best in field

Demonstrate a commitment to customer service; anticipate, meet and exceed expectations by solving problems quickly and effectively; making customer issues a priority

Ensure 100% adherence to all company policies and procedures (i.e. Confidentiality, Health, Safety and Quality)

Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form

 

Experience and Skills Required:

Expert knowledge in Splunk version 6.0 and higher

Experience building and supporting dashboards and reports in Splunk Cloud

Knowledgeable in the use of Sideview Utils, Maps, and other visualization packages within Splunk to intelligently visualize complex datasets in an easily comprehensible manner

5 years’ experience in supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux (including CentOS) in an environment where mature governance and operating standards are in place

Experience in writing shell and Perl scripts to automate critical, repetitive tasks

Strong understanding of ITIL and the ability to articulate its use in promoting a stable production environment to customers

Ability to interpret and modify data models

Experience working in a matrixed organization

Experience supporting an application or service that is deployed in multiple geographical locations (2+ years)

Extensive project team experience (3+ years), working in a remote project
