Roles and Responsibility

·         Skills Required: Oracle (RAC, ADG, Golden Gate must), MySQL, Cassandra, Couchbase, Aerospike, MongoDB, Solaris, Linux, Hitachi SAN, PL/SQL, Scripting (Shell, Perl and Python)

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

·         Ensure fulfillment of user requests assigned to the team through a PayPal approved formal ticketing system (Service Now/JIRA/Rally) and occasionally email requests

·         Perform LTS (live to site) pre-checks and post-checks for on boarding new databases

·         Execute all Oracle database maintenance tasks/tickets (Example: memory parameter changes, applying one-off patches, upgrades, migration, table maintenance for fixing partition issues, capacity addition, DML/DDL changes, SQL executions)

·         NoSQL (Couchbase, Aerospike, MongoDB and Cassandra) installs, upgrades, capacity additions

·         MySQL replication, recovery, upgrades, migration, installs, triaging

·         Oracle RAC cluster and database builds using defined SOPs

·         Oracle ADG builds and data validation

·         Communicate to stakeholders at agreed upon intervals about ongoing incidents, failures that impact availability to the users and business

·         The communication guidelines can be found in the existing SOPs

·         Follow up with PD (Product Development) and SRE to drive application related bugs

·         Follow up with vendors (Ex: Oracle, Couchbase) to create service tickets, upload logs and triage the issue to resolution
