Roles and Responsibility
We are looking for an experienced UNIX/LINUX system administrator to join our IT department. As a system administrator, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining the Client's systems. In this role, you will troubleshoot server errors, install new system hardware, respond to user issues, and monitor the performance of the network.
To ensure success as a system administrator, you should have in-depth knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems, excellent troubleshooting skills, and high-level knowledge of computer hardware. A skilled system administrator will ensure the smooth running of the companies computer system and quickly respond to breakdowns and software issues.
1. Technical Support Engineer (L2) B.E. / B. Tech/BCA (On-Site), Relevant Certification (Preference). 2-3 Years relevant experience, ITIL Certified, OEM Certified on Minimum One Technology (1 RHEL Certification), Exposure to Network & Server administration.
M365 Engineer Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a similar field.
- Previous experience as a UNIX system administrator.
- Knowledge of UNIX and LINUX operating systems, storage environments, file systems, and network protocols.
- Detailed knowledge of UNIX principles, file editing, UNIX commands, and file manipulation.
- Familiarity with Windows, UNIX, LINUX, and LINUX shell scripting.
- Knowledge of networking principles including routing, subnets, TCP, IP, VLANs, and UDP.
- Understanding of backup procedures and storage management.
- In-depth knowledge of computer hardware systems including circuit boards, memory modules, and processors.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills.
Key Areas
- Physical Monitoring of Domain relevant Servers
- Monitor Service Desk tool (iServe) for SR, incident, change & update accordingly
- Monitoring & checking daily Server checklist for error logs and other abnormality
- Checking backup status & co-ordinate with Backup team in case of any failure/error found in any server's backup
- NFS File System Check w.r.t availability of all the files & folders in NFS mount points
- Signed off daily server checklist hard copy from ITD owner & DPM
- Cluster status check and reporting to Domain Leads/owners in case observing any ambiguity
- Production Server monitoring through various tools
- NTP Monitoring & reporting in case observing any time gap
- Resource Utilization (CPU/Memory/Load) Monitoring & Alerting respective teams
- Disk Space Utilization/ File system monitoring & alerting respective teams
- Network Utilization monitoring related to the server & alerting respective teams.
- User calls follow-up & ensuring timely completion
- Executing Server Health check scripts & checking outputs
- Creation of Linux VM templates and deployment of VMs using the templates
- Snapshot creation, troubleshooting of issues with VM
- Troubleshooting Linux issues, alerts, and alarms
- Work with Project/Domain leads to implement new systems, policies, standards and practices
- Applying operating system updates, and configuration changes
- Document Linux administration processes and procedures
- Installation of Linux OS on physical/virtual servers
- Configuration and hardening of RedHat, CentOS, SuSe OS as per the organization standards
- Monitor system log files, mail logs, cron logs, printer logs & cluster logs etc.
- Server health monitoring & sharing analysis with Domain Owners
- Monitor critical services & validate Alert for False-Positives
- Log Tickets in the Service Desk system for valid alerts
- Review daily Server checklists for error logs and appropriate action to be taken wherever required
- Providing monthly reports with service uptime, capacity utilization & call status
- Vendor co-ordination & Case logging to fix hardware break-up & other issues
- Graceful system startup and shutdown as per predefined procedures
- User Account administration i.e. creation, deletion, modification of user accounts, resetting passwords
- Group Account administration i.e. creation, deletion, modification of group accounts
- OS Backups before & after any critical change/activity
- End-to-end Data Copy using various tools & utilities e.g. SCP, tar, rsync as on when required
- Server Backup configuration with Backup Team & ensuring proper file system? backups are in place
- ITSM (Symphony iServe) tool monitoring, resolving SR?s and incidents
- Incident Management for related incidents in iServe, ensuring response & resolution SLA?s are achieved
- Manage availability, measure uptime, monitor services
- Scheduling required downtimes for server maintenance, servers re-boot & patch installation etc.
- File system administration using LVM i.e. configuration, modification, deletion, extending & decreasing file systems
- Access right management & managing permissions to files and folders
- Job scheduling and monitoring
- Cluster monitoring & updating cluster/package scripts
- NTP, SMTP configurations, stopping & starting of services
- NFS configurations & file system sharing
- Configuring CIFS file shares and permissions
- DNS/NIS Configuration as on when required
- Enabling Name Resolution between server through DNS/Host files
- Software installation and configurations as on requirement
- Monitoring Kernel Parameters, Tuning & Usage analysis
- Troubleshooting OS & hardware related issues along with OEM
- Manage network interfaces, printers and printer queues
- Monthly Performance report preparation
- Monthly Uptime report preparation
