Job Title: Design and Development
Engineer - Chassis
Experience: 8 to 10 years
Notice period: Immediate to 15 days
Location: Chennai
Roles & responsibilities:
Qualifications, Experience and Competency requirements:
· Bachelor / Master degree in engineering in
Mechanical / Automobile Engineering.
· 6 to 10 years of experience with automotive OEM or
equivalent in Steering system design and development.
· In-depth experience on Steering System Parts
product development process, supplier evaluation, tech review, DFMEA,
DVP&R, control plan, PFMEA, PPAP.
· Root cause analysis (Proactive & reactive
methods) for parts under development and field return/warranty.
· Knowledge of CATIA, UG NX/ Team Centre.
· Steering system sizing, performance, homologation.
· Good understanding of functional science of
Steering system pats for fatigue, NVH and stiffness
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Experience:
· Vehicle assembly process knowledge and system and
component tooling and process experience.
· Knowledge on electrical parts (EPAS Motor
selection, Understanding the failure modes, electronic part Integration)
· Process knowledge of casting, press parts,
Injection molding and forging.
Responsibilities:
· Understand Vehicle / Sub-System functional
objectives & inter dependencies related to Steering system design
· Engineering, Design & Development of Steering
system components. (Mechanical Steering Column, EPAS Steering Column,
Mechanical Steering Gear & EPAS Steering Gear) for current & new
program.
· Perform steering system sizing calculations &
deliver steering design to achieve TPC
· Knowledge & understanding on relevant
Homologation / Regulation requirements for India and other countries
· Adhere to Stellantis product development processes
Develop requirement matrix, RFQ, technical review with supplier, Suppler
evaluation, DVP&R finalization, lead development, supplier process review,
error proofing, tooling and fixture/ gauges review, material sign off, PPAP
· Supplier tech review for process development to
suit vehicle assembly process. (Define & approve Assembly fixture, in
process inspection method, error proofing of lines, review of control plan and
PFMEA)
· Periodic review with supplier / SQE on continuous
conformance.
· Plant technology and build support for Steering
system deliverables: Support all engineering test & production builds
by working with plant team.
· Work closely with SQE and supplier for resolving
part development challenges, ensure timely KPIs are met for program quality
gates.
· Perform Packaging study, DFX(Manufacturability,
Assembly, Serviceability) study and select best concept to achieve the target
cost
· Address component, assembly & vehicle Field
Early Warranty issues with quality & service team.
· Working closely with cross functional teams like materials, CAE,
testing, product center of competency, service, warranty, and supplier quality.
